Vista The bug already! January 29
“…Even if contrary to the graphic improvements, the rest is completely invisible:
“It is the fact that more than ever, the user does not control any more his vista computer”.
“That sounds like the war cry of an anti-Microsoft primary education”, and I regret it.
The fact is that, in the conflict of interest which opposes the consumers to the industry of the music and movies, Microsoft played the industry card at 100%, users will be unable to use the pc as they would, i.e. any attempt of the user to do something which would displease the majors of the disc and film is impossible.
Windows XP and Windows Media Player had already put DRM everywhere, but after all, we could find there alternatives, itunes(with Apple DRM), winamp, or vlc , which is not encumbered by DRM.
With Vista, these problems take an other dimension, taking into account the multiplication of the measures to control all the numerical chain, from the reader of DVD-HD or BlueRay to HD screens, with the coding of all that, and associating certification of the equipment and the software drivers: it will be necessary in order to read a DVD-HD, to have a certified reader, with certified driver, vista will be coding the data flow, and you need certified, video driver, certified HDMI cord , anti-hacking and screen HD attached by HDMI.”
Being a concerned citizen, and very aware of my freedoms and my privacy, I am more than worried by the turn Microsoft is taking with vista.
The pc is our digital extension, we use it to create, manage, learn and share with our family, friends and others our digital vision and our passion… I don’t want my pc to be spied by a multinational Microsoft neither by a State, and the turn Microsoft is taking reminds me of 1984 George Orwell book, which inspired me a lot and taught me a lot about privacy and my rights as a citizen.
“Microsoft forgot who the customer is”.
